Join this 2-hour private walking tour and discover what is left of the old Jewish neighborhood in Amsterdam. The heart of the former Jewish quarter lies in the area around Jodenbreestraat, Waterlooplein and Wibautstraat. The Jews who came here from countries such as Spain and Portugal, but also from Eastern Europe, were primarily concerned with retail, money, book printing and diamond processing.

During this tour we will of course also consider the horrors of the Second World War, which had major consequences for the Jewish community. After the Second World War, there were only 5,000 of the original Jewish community of 80,000 people.

Explore the Jewish quarter of the city with your private guide and learn about the life of Anne Frank. Hear stories about Anne Frank’s relationship with her family, when she moved from Germany and the time she was hiding.  Get interesting information about the background of the original Jewish quarter and its evolution over the centuries.

See many sights like the the Joods Historisch Museum, the Auschwitz Monument and finally the house of Anne Frank, where your tour ends.

During this tour, the most important sights we will visit are:

-Portuguese Synagogue

-Rembrandtplein

-Auschwitz Monument

-Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam

– Hollandsche Schouwburg

– Anne Frank House

-Spinoza monument

Meet in front of the Portugese Synagogue at the Nieuwe Amstelstraat 1. We operate daily and you can choose your own departure time between 10:00 – 16:00. With your booking confirmation you will receive pictures of the meeting point so that it is easy for you to find it!

Very informative tour! Our guide Stan was exceptional and had so much knowledge about Anne Frank. With this tour you also learn about the Second World War and Jewish Quarter. I can truly say it is a must do when visiting Amsterdam. Amsterdam is much more than just the Red light District and Coffeeshop!!
